I’ve always been drawn to people and their stories.

Before I became a photographer, I spent more than 20 years working in the U.S. Intelligence Community, much of that time focused on counterterrorism and investigations. It was a career that taught me how to listen carefully, ask the right questions, notice what others might miss, and—most importantly—understand that every person has a story worth hearing.

Photography became another way for me to do that.

Today, I photograph people, businesses, events, and organizations throughout Northern Virginia and the DC area. I love the polished portrait, the beautifully produced event, and the photograph that makes someone say, “That actually looks like me.” But what I love most are the moments that can't be staged—the laugh between takes, the quiet connection, the person who finally relaxes in front of the camera.

My photography is rooted in authenticity. I don't want to manufacture a version of you. I want to capture you—confident, genuine, imperfect, funny, thoughtful, powerful, joyful, or all of the above.

A great headshot should look like you on your very best day—not like someone else, and not like an artificially perfected version of you. My retouching is intentional and restrained, using traditional digital darkroom techniques to polish an image without changing the person in front of my camera.

I’ve lived in northern Virginia since 2008 and love this area for its diversity and high energy. I also know how busy NOVA folks are and endeavor to make shoots fun and easy. I walk each client through every step to ensure they feel comfortable and have fun in front of the camera.
